20 Random Things About Me

1. I use the word "random" just about as often as I can possibly get away with.
2. I totally get the whole "squirrel" comment in the movie "Up". My husband uses it frequently when we're shopping or in the midst of conversation and brainstorming sessions.
3. I have ADD, but have learned to use it as an advantage instead of a hinderance.
4. I love all things girly and have been blessed to have three little ladies to practice on!
5. I wake up at no later than 7:00 am on Saturdays without fail, but can't seem to get my butt motivated on workdays or church days. Seriously?!
6. I am going to get water baptised at church on March 3 for the first time in my entire life and I'm so completely excited about it!
7. I'm an instant gratification kinda girl. I want what I want when I want it and it KILLS me to have to be patient for anything. I never seem to get the same kind of gratification out of waiting.
8. I groom my children with the best manners possible. I, and they, never know when one of them will be invited to dinner with the President or the Queen and I believe they should be ready at any given time. Besides, ill behaved children in a restaurant really ruins the whole experience.
9. I love other people's dogs, but mine get on my last good nerve! Don't get me wrong, I love my little guys, but other people's seem much easier to handle.
10. I am a perfectionist, but I want to get stuff done quickly.
11. I have anxiety because I want things just so and I seem to be the only one who can do what I want/need done.
12. I hate being late. I also hate others being late. I figure if I can get myself and 4 children out the door on time, and even early most times, others should at least practice the same. I believe it's bad manners to make others wait.
13. I only get my hair cut/colored about twice a year. I obviously need and deserve it more, but most of the times when something has to give, it's my hair.
14. I ALWAYS put others first.
15. I LOVE to cook and try new recipes, which allows me to use the fun stuff in my kitchen.
16. I LOVE entertaining. I enjoy cooking for others and socializing before, during, and after.
17. I would rather make and eat a variety of appetizers than cook a full blown, 5 course meal.
18. My favorite perfume is Samsara. My aunt has worn this for as long as I can remember and it brings such wonderful memories to me when I smell it.
19. I secretly hope for snow and/or ice that keeps us inside for a couple of days. I love my home and my family and it's a good excuse to stay in jammies and snuggle in front of the fire. I guess it's kinda like stealing a little extra time with my favorite people.
20. I seriously think I missed my calling as a meteorologist. I hate science and I'm really no good at it, but, especially during the winter, I am constantly on Alan Crone's blog reading the weather update and keeping my fingers crossed for the next snow/ice storm.

Kitchen remodel

So, we bought our first home together in December of 2008. As soon as the Christmas presents were unwrapped and we celebrated the New Year in our new home, I started working on parts of the house. I started with the guest bathroom on the main floor and it turned out beautifully! (I'll post before and after pictures later.) Then, it was on to the hallway. Once again, a beautiful success! (Again, pictures are coming!) Finally, the kids' bathroom upstairs. (And still, pictures up soon.) Each of the rooms I've done have turned out exactly the way I envisioned them.

Now, I'm not sure who lived here before us or how many families this house has seen, but I think that each "decorator" before us has had an obsession with wallpaper! And all I can say is, CURSE YOU!! In each area, there has been a minimum of two layers of wallpaper! Are you kidding me right now?! Oh no, I would never joke about such a horrid thing! Each time I worked my little fingers to the bone peeling off layer after layer of horrible wallpaper.

This all brings me to the kitchen. I was desperately hoping that the two layers of wallpaper I could tell were there would be it. Oh no, I couldn't be that lucky. There are three, count them three, layers of wallpaper with a layer of paint in between two of them. The only thing I can think while I'm pulling piece by tiny piece of paper/glue off this wall is, "Why couldn't they have done this the correct way each time?" Lazy SOBs!! GEESH!

The best news out of all of this so far is the stuff we found to help with this all. Whoever invented this stuff needs a special treat! It works like a charm! The whole process stinks, but with this handy stuff, it makes it a teeny tiny bit better.

Too bad I'm such an instant gratification kinda girl - the process KILLS me, but it will be so perfect in the end!

Tool Time

This is my son's and my husband's first attempt at working on the cars together. Since hubby has been off work the last couple of weeks, there are a few things that have to be worked on - here comes the honey-do list! So, this evening, hubby decided that the oil needed changing in his car and the brakes (finally!) needed changing on my car. YAY!!!

The exciting thing about this is that hubby and I have had discussions recently that Austin would really benefit from the exposure with him in the garage. Austin was SOOOO excited to be invited to Dad's mancave! He talked all through dinner about how dirty his hands got and how he's a "man" now! It was so cute and he's so excited - and I'm such a proud mom and wife!

Can you see the excitement?!

Oh, Mikenzie just ran in the kitchen exclaiming, "Your car is tipped over!"

Let me explain....

Well, here goes my first attempt at blogging. I love reading other people's blogs (some I know, some I have stumbled on, and some I feel like I know because I keep following their blogs). Call me a blog stalker if you must. I thought I might give it a shot, too. So, here it is...the debut!

OK, so the title of the blog, "God's Comma". Ever heard that saying, "Never place a period where God has placed a comma"? (Gracie Allen sure was a genius!) Well, it's definitely one of my favorites because it's so true. I mean really, think about it. When was the last time you thought something was finished to find out there was something that was so much more, later? If we were all to hang up our hats and say, "OK, this is it, move on", how many of us would be disappointed to miss out on the good stuff just waiting come. Everything happens in His time - our successes and failures cannot be evaluated in OUR time - we're too quick to count our chicks before all the eggs are laid.

That quote makes me stop and think that I don't know everything and I sure don't know God's plan for me. Sometimes, it's the process not the product - sometimes the lesson is in the process not in the outcome of an event. And, sometimes the reward is hangin' in there to find out what's just around the corner.
